This summer I went on my first ever yoga retreat – eight days spent in a bubble of kundalini yoga, meditation, and raw food.

Bliss!

It wasn’t easy to take the plunge though. Loved ones wanted me by their side this summer. And I wanted that too. But I wanted alone time more. I needed time to reflect, to gain some clarity.

I also craved adventure, and there’s no better way to find that than to jump on a train to an unknown place, alone.

Maybe you’ve always wanted to go on a retreat, to experience living in that self-care bubble for a week or so. But maybe the fear of feeling guilty about ‘abandoning’ your nearest and dearest makes you think twice. May I urge you to follow your desires – from experience, you’ll be a better person to your people because of it!

    This is a great video, Chloe! I went to my first yoga retreat ever this summer, in Cambodia, and I could understand deeply what “vacation” means. You don’t look after something to do, you just are, still. Now I cannot imagine my next holiday without a retreat, however long it might be. Thanks for this mindful reminder!
