Bullet Journaling for Beginners

Yesterday was a momentous day.

Yesterday I got my French passport – I am officially Franco-American. The joy, relief, and sense of accomplishment that I feel is beyond explanation.

The goals, the visionboards, the to-dos, the visualization…

The administrative hoops, official translations, and timbres fiscaux…

All that has gone into this massive undertaking for the past seven years, has finally amounted to something tangible.

Finally, I am French.

The Power of Organization

Above all, I attribute much of my “success” in dealing with France and its bureaucratic gobbledegook to determination, of course, but also to organization. If you’re not organized in France, and you lose that “one paper that they sent you that one time,” it could mean a whole administrative disaster.

And since I’m a bit of an organization junkie, I wanted to tell you about my latest and greatest find for finding some semblance of order in life: bullet journaling. (How’s that for a segue? ?)

What is Bullet Journaling?

In a nutshell, bullet journaling is an analog way of organizing your life, to-dos, appointments, lists, as well as tracking your habits or anything else you fancy tracking. It’s a capture journal. It’s a creative outlet. It’s sheer joy.

Why Start Bullet Journaling?

I certainly cover this more throughly in the video below, but just suffice it to say, for me, bullet journaling has been rather life-changing. I love the analog data centralization, and I love that I create the structure and design. If I am feeling doodle-y, I can go to town – blank pages abound. If I feel like being minimalist and utilitarian for a while, I can just draw in some black lines and feel mighty chuffed* with m’self. It evolves with me.

Also, with bullet journaling, I am sort of “forced” to be creative on a daily basis. See, the past several years have been so busy, and hence the more creative, hands-on activities took a back seat. No more. I have to be constantly creating, and I love that.

Enough chat, let’s get to the video!

*UK English for “delighted” – blame Chloe.

What do you think? Are you curious to try bullet journaling? Or are you already an experienced Bujo-ster? If ever you have any questions, definitely leave them in the comments below. Again… I’m not a pro at this, I’m just taking a whack at it, but I’ll try to answer them as best as I can!

Have a sunny (and creative!) weekend, friends,

I really need that! I have way to many post-it notes everywhere! They’re on my desk, on my dresser, in my pockets, on the kitchen counter, and who knows where else! I’m definitely going to try the bullet journaling!
    Thanks for that.
