Chocolate Orange Smoothie



Is Terry’s Chocolate Orange one of your guilty pleasures? It used to be a massive addiction of mine, so imagine my delight when I discovered this divine recipe by accident. It’s basically the liquid equivalent of a Chocolate Orange, just without the moo-moo milk, GMO soy, and sugar crash. Oh, and it’s mega nutritious and has magical mood-boosting powers. What’s not to love?

This supercharged smoothie features raw cacao, which stimulates the happy hormones serotonin and dopamine. Raw cacao is a way more powerful mood-booster than cocoa powder or regular chocolate, because its nutritional awesomeness hasn’t been cooked out. (Raw cacao is also an aphrodisiac, FYI…)

The fresh oranges will make you zing, especially if you don’t ‘take the pith’ out of the equation. The pith contains a concentrate of all the vitamin-y goodness that oranges have to offer, so keep it in.

Then, adding to this smoothie’s nutritional excellence is its double helping of protein, from the almond butter and the moringa, plus a slew of other gems like calcium, magnesium, iron, and potassium to name but a few. And then, the baobab in the special moringa mix we use has silly amounts of vitamin C.

It’s smooth, it’s zesty, it’s chocolatey, and it’s mega yum. Can you tell I’m in love with this new creation?

Serves 2. Watch out for the aphrodisiac effects of the raw cacao ;)

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 2 juicy oranges
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter
  • 2 tablespoons Moringa Morning Boost, or equivalent green powder, but the baobab in this mixture really brings out the zing in the oranges
  • 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
  • Water
  1. Peel the bananas and oranges, keeping as much pith on the oranges as possible. Chop roughly. Place in blender with about 1/2 a cup of water and blend until smooth.
  2. Add the almond butter, moringa, and cacao, and perhaps some more water if needed. Blend until smooth and silky. Serve in a pretty glass.
