Paris is perfect in July.
Sure there are tourists, but half of the Parisians are in the countryside or somewhere southern, so most of my local haunts are uncommonly calm, and the weather is (usually) warm and lovely.
August, on the other hand, is another story. Paris becomes a sort of monument petting zoo for tourists, and all the Frenchies are parti. After all, France’s real religion is les vacances — they live for it — so it’s a red hot ghost town.
At least the first part of August. Toward the end of the month, we’ll all be back to prepare for one of my favorite seasons since moving to France, la rentrée. “The return.” Makes me want to get myself a new plaid jumper* and bust out some pink pearl erasers. Fresh starts… renewed energy… I love it.
And with that, here’s what else I’m loving in my first favorites video!

And with that, I, too, am partir-ing en vacances,
* I never wore a plaid jumper, fyi. I looked more like this.
