Self-care is super essential and a very serious matter especially when you’re a mama. It is crucial to be well since other precious beings are relying on you for sooooo much.

Many moons ago when I lived in LA, I was so unwell. I struggled with balance, eating, and self-esteem, and largely because I just didn’t understand how to take care of myself. In fact, it wasn’t until many years later when I would move to Paris, study holistic nutrition, and finally get a handle on my self-care (and self-love) that I started to really feel whole… and happy, honestly.
Do I have it all figured out now? Um, no… I’m not sure anyone does. But! I am so. much. better. now, and thriving (most days) largely thanks to understanding the gentle art of taking care of myself.

The thing is… many of us equate self-care with the word “indulgence.” And we need to stop. Self-care isn’t about being selfish – au contraire, it’s about filling your cup so that you can give of it. Remember: No one thrives with an empty cup. No one.
Of course self-care is also linked with a slew of benefits from reducing stress and anxiety, to living longer. (And self-care certainly does your mental health and body a solid as well!) But let’s talk about mama self-care… that’s why you’re here, right? 😉
Self-care is suuuuuper essential and a very serious matter especially when you’re a mama. Not only is it crucial to be well since other precious beings are relying on you for SO MUCH, but I think it’s also important to show your children that you value yourself, and hence, you take care of yourself. The hope, of course, is that they in turn will learn to value and take care of themselves as well.
Well, it’s all in today’s video! Also, in addition to sharing how in the world to find/make time for self-care as a mom, I also share some of my favorite ways to take care of yourself – from spending time in nature to the power of saying “No” and everything in between. I truly hope that you find these tips helpful!

I like the idea of mini-stations. I should have little glasses of water here and. there to remind me to keep hydrated. Sometimes i get busy and forget to drink water. I need to do a better job of keeping in contact with dear ones. I think I will address and stamp postcards to place them and a pen around the house around the the house. It would make me feel so good to dash off a little note to someone and get it in the mailbox.
Great ideas, Olive! “Do less more often.”
