10 Minute Standing Yoga | No Mat Required!

This class is designed to awaken the spine in all directions, increase circulation, and to get you twisting and moving. Plus it’s under ten minutes.

10 Min Yoga Stretch | Total Body Wake Up

It’s easy to say you’re a perfectionist.

People throw it around in job interviews when asked about their “faults,” and use it to blame inactivity on a project or moments of “paralysis by analysis.” (And I’ve surely used it for all of the above.)

In short, because of perfectionism, we just don’t get stuff done.

I’ve been known to suffer from perfectionism from time to time, and it’s hardly something to brag about. Because, let’s be honest… perfectionism is so ten years ago, and a classic example of the “fixed mindset” instead of a growth one. (Can you tell I’ve been psychoanalyzing myself since I read Mindset? Highly recommend this book, btw.)

Why Am I Talking About Perfectionism?

Well, because today’s yoga class was shot and re-shot three times over the past month.

See, first off we realized that we didn’t have a large enough space in our house to film a practice with tall standing postures, so we decided to shoot by a river. First attempt, it was too bright and entirely washed out. Second attempt, it was way too dark, and you could barely see the “Annie for the trees.”

So the video got shelved.

Weeks later, we tried yet again, in a wee little park, and we finally got it. And though we “got it,” it’s far from perfect… there are random people, scooters, and cars making appearances in the background, and the ground was uneven so I did my fair share of wobbling, and for the first half of the yoga practice, my braid is inconveniently tucked into my sweatshirt. *shrug*

But I’m posting.

I’m posting because I really did try (and try again) my best to get this practice filmed, and I’m posting because of my new perfectionism-busting motto: Done is better than perfect.

Let's do some yoga!

This class is designed to awaken the spine in all directions, increase circulation, and to get you twisting and moving. Plus it’s under ten minutes, so it’s easy to slip into your day, and can be done anywhere, anytime — no mat required.

So let’s get to the, err, floor, and try not to be perfect!

Done is better than perfect, my friends, and I hope you enjoy this quickeroo yoga practice with all its imperfections. And, hey, let’s glorify perfectionism no more, and move on to more productive lives, whaddaya say?

Talk soon,

*Quick question for you, friends… do you enjoy quick 10-minute practices, or would you prefer 15-minute or longer yoga sessions? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
