Yesterday, my husband and I were doing some Trivial Pursuit cards at the kitchen table after lunch, as is a frequent occurrence chez nous. (We like quizzes.) Suddenly, after glancing at my belly – which is finally showing – my husband casually says, “You know…. once baby comes, our lives are never going to be the same.”
“I know… ” I said, very seriously. “And I really like us.”
Not to say that I won’t like “us + 1” even more but… it’s a very bizarre transition. It’s such a leap into the unknown. An adult-y rite of passage, sure, but still a gigantic change to life-as-we-know-it. After all, we can only really speculate what’s in store for us when we bring another human earth-side… what will happen to us?
And what will he be like?
God only knows.
(Now that I’m well into my second trimester, it’s true that our thoughts are getting more… existential.)
On a less “existential” note, I’m excited to report that we’ve heard the heartbeat (hooray, there’s someone in there,) and I now have a plethora of herbs that are, according to my midwife, supposed to “prepare my body for birth.” Awesome. I’ll take it. (The recipe is in the video!)
We got these herbs at a magical, bucolic herb farm in Lee, New Hampshire called Misty Meadows. This place is essentially a mystical haven for any earth lovin’ soul, and most of their herbs are grown/wildcrafted on site (without chemical herbicides, pesticides, or fungicides,) following organic and biodynamic farming practices.
Just… wow.
Of course after we procured the herbs for my pregnancy mélange, we took a moment to frolic in the fields surrounding Misty Meadows, and drink in the springtime scents and sunshine. (Also in the video!)
Today’s vlog is just a little peek into a day in the life during my second trimester. As I mentioned, we visit Misty Meadows, plus I do a little unboxing, and make a mean guacamole – one of my fave pregnancy snacks. I hope you enjoy hanging out with me! (If you do, it always means a lot when you leave me a little note!)
Mentioned in the video:
Just a quick note: I know haven’t posted in a few weeks, and for this I can only apologize. (I wanted to… I always do.) But being pregnant and working at the same time has been a logistical challenge… most especially with regard to energy levels. I promise I’m trying my best, and also, soon my load will be lightened, so expect to hear/see more from me very soon.
Thanks for your understanding, dear reader.
(Any natural mamas out there? Would love all your tips or tricks for a smooth sailing second trimester!)
More soon, and happy weekend,
