What I Eat in a Day – Vegan Summer | VegNews + Berry Picking

“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.” — John Lubbock

If you live in Australia or New Zealand (and I know that some of you do) I have to apologize.

This video is filled with summer… summer peaches, summer hats, sunny berry picking, and chilled chocolate pudding.

But for those of you Down Under, hopefully it’s a welcome sensorial excursion whilst you find yourself deep in wintertime. For the rest of us in the Northern Hemisphere, here’s hoping you too are basking in the effervescent estival glow of summer while it lasts.

What I Eat in a Day When it's Hot, Hot, Hot! | Vegan Summer

My diet isn’t that complicated or mysterious, summer or winter. I strive to eat the most whole food-filled, plant-based diet based on Dr. Greger’s Daily Dozen. Am I perfect every day? No. But I don’t think that that’s the point. We want to feel amazing, whilst also enjoying life. It’s not about perfection, but finding a happy balance of healthy and delicious – that’s the sweet spot.

Also I think it’s important to talk about real day-to-day eating in these videos. Fancy and sophisticated recipes are all fine and good sometimes, but I don’t know many people who use these on a regular basis… it’s overwhelming, and not sustainable. Also, this is why both my lunch and dinner involve reinventing leftovers from my fridge. That’s real life. And, if I can provide tips and tricks to help others avoid wasting food, everyone wins.

Berry Picking + VegNews "Unboxing"

Today’s video also includes a few behind-the-scenes treats! Come along as I pick fresh, local raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries at a farm in New Hampshire, frolicking in the sun with berries and bees. And then join me as I “unbox” the latest VegNews magazine, featuring someone you know. 🙂

So without further ado, let’s get summerin’.

What I Eat in a Day | Vegan Summer | VegNews + Berry Picking

So there you have it… easy summer eating. Nothing complicated, but seriously delicious.

Wishing you sunny skies, and yummy, refreshing warm weather meals. Here’s hoping you can laze about on the grass “under trees on a summer’s day,” and watch clouds flitting by. It’s serious business.

And, as always, if any of my “recipes” inspires you, please do let me know!

P.S. Here’s a more clear cut recipe for vegan sushi, if you’d like. 🙂

    Ann Dear!
I love all your videos and I look forward to each new one! So cheery! And I’m excited about your new married life in New Hampshire. Félicitations! (Such a handsome husband!)

Regarding Veggie Magnifique not being mentioned in your wedding article in VegNews Magazine, why don’t you write them a “letter to the editor,” and tell about your beloved Veggie Magnifique? It’s such a shame that it did not get a mention.

Bonne chance avec tout ce que tu fais!
    Je t’embrasse,
    Christine

  2. Ann says:

    Hello chère Christine,

Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m so thrilled that you’re following Veggie Magnifique, and thank you so much for your enthusiasm and support! We’re happily getting to know New Hampshire, and navigating all the ins and outs of moving internationally. (And merci ! I think he’s rather dishy myself. 🙂 🙂 :))

And yes — I DID actually write a letter to the editor, however, to no avail. They didn’t feel that it was “relevant” to include VM, which is obviously because my channel/readership isn’t big enough. A real shame indeed!

Thanks so much again, Christine. Je t’embrasse très fort.
    Ann

I carried an owl vase across an ocean. It never held a single flower. This week's video is about what actually earns its place — across three boys, four years, and one very ruthless edit.
