Here’s the thing…
Maintaining a healthy vegan lifestyle involves more than simply eating kale salads and drinking green smoothies. Don’t get me wrong, those are phenomenal, but if you truly want to thrive as a vegan, there’s a biiiiit more to it.
While adopting a vegan diet excludes the big no-nos that are scientifically proven to be detrimental – i.e. meat, dairy, and eggs – it doesn’t automatically guarantee optimal health. After all, one could subsist on a diet of pasta, marinara sauce, and vegan gummy candies. Yummy? Sure. But no bueno when it comes to nutrition… and hence making the whole enchilada of veganism unsustainable. (Here’s looking at you ex-vegans.)
Let’s cut to the chase – to truly flourish on a vegan diet, you gotta embrace a diverse array of whole plant foods, including an assortment of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. (If you’re new to plant-based eating, then print this out and post it to your fridge. It’ll remind you to include all the components at all or most meals.)
