It really is quite an idyllic scene – I’m sitting working in front of a beautiful view of the French countryside (below), lulled by the sounds of the breeze in the cherry trees and the rain pitter-pattering on stones and grass. A gorgeous smell of damp earth is wafting in, and I have a steaming mug of rooibos by my side.
And – by golly, what’s this?
A tiny little snoring human, too!
Three weeks into parenthood, it still takes me by surprise that he’s really here, and that I’m really a mother. He’s snoozing against my chest in his Moby wrap right now, and sometimes I even manage to tear myself away from admiring his angelic face to write a few words for this post.
Everything takes me longer these days. No, not because motherhood is a full time job and I’m a martyr, blah-de-blah. But because I need to kiss and cuddle him at least every 30 seconds.
I’m discovering (with relief) that motherly love is as deep and rewarding as they say, and then some.
Ok, he does keep me up at night, but the adorable faces and sounds that he makes (that I know will be fleeting) make it all alright. Those bleary-eyed 3am moments, filled with cuddles, lullabies and kisses, are truly joyous. And this is coming from someone who really likes her sleep.
Other than his almost unbearable cuteness, I attribute my blissful state – and my baby’s calm disposition – to how well everything began. My home birth was rapid, relatively easy and ever so beautiful. As I look back on that special moment, I am grateful to my chiropractor, the lovely Dr Anaïs Badon, for playing a huge part in preparing my body for its ‘grand opening’.
As such, today’s video is all about the surprising benefits of chiropractic during pregnancy. Ann has already eloquently laid out the wonders of chiropractic, and introduced you to Anaïs. So this time we wanted to focus in on how chiropractors can help make pregnancy and labour “a breeze”.
Did you know that regular chiropractic adjustments during pregnancy can considerably reduce labouring time? It’s because adjustments help to gently prepare your hips and pelvis for birthing. It’s important to find a chiropractor who has experience working with pregnant women – and this just happens to be Dr Anaïs’ speciality, as you can see here.
Regular adjustments will also help your pregnancy go much more smoothly, limiting back pain and digestive discomfort, and ensuring everything is hunky dory. Your spine and nervous system need to be in top condition to create another healthy human being. This is because the nervous system gives the other systems (digestive, endocrine, immune) the information they need to work correctly. So, in essence, a healthy spine means a healthy body – and a healthy bubba, too.
As you can tell, we couldn’t be more delighted with our charming gem of a chiropractor. If your curiosity has been piqued by this post, don’t hesitate to make an appointment with Anaïs.

I am now in my 6th month, and I am considering chiropractic care. I have heard a lot of good things about it. I wonder if it is really safe and effective and how much it would cost me?
Hi Mikaila, congrats on your pregnancy! Yes, chiropractic is really safe and effective for pregnant mums. We’d suggest finding a practitioner who is specialised in pregnancy though. Usually sessions run from between 50 euros to 80 euros. Hope this helps!
