Who isn’t captivated by spring? That symphony of natural pleasures, rising up like miracles out of the torpid winter soil. The birdsong, the floral explosion of myriad hues, the sound of the breeze in fresh-leaved trees.
This week’s video is my love letter to a season that I am more and more enamoured with every year. As you’ll see, it was filmed in a very special place. An enchanted hideaway, nestled in the rolling hills of southern France, which I am lucky enough to call my second home. It’s become my favoured vantage point for enjoying the beguiling beauty of the changing seasons.
Despite my Parisienne lifestyle, I’m truly a country girl at heart, having grown up under the 180-degree skies of the English fenlands. Thirteen years in Paris have afforded masses of artistic stimulation and a few treasured friendships, but I have a visceral need to commune with nature, as I think we all do.
I find foraging to be a wonderful way to get up close and personal with mother nature. As you’ll see in the video, I’m a total foraging beginner. But I truly delight in the simple joy of recognising the commonest of plants, and putting them on my dinner table. And I plan to be a full-time foraging student from here on out!
