My Top 5 Self-Care Rituals for Mamas

In nearly every aspect of life, it really does all come down to maintenance.

What we maintain thrives, what we neglect withers.

End of post. (Hits “publish.”)

Wait, actually. We have some important things to discuss, namely…

Is Self-Care Selfish?

I meaaan, only if you get obsessive about it and neglect your duties, right? And in the case of mamas, we certainly have some V.I.P.s to care for – there are indeed responsibilities that we cannot shirk in order to indulge in endless, all-day pampering.

But, generally, we mamas tend to neglect ourselves if anyone. And this doesn’t bode well for the “maintenance” maxim I shared above. We mustn’t wither, my friends! No. We must thrive both for ourselves, but also for our families.

Self-Care = Maintenance

Self-care is essentially the term for maintaining yourself – your well-being, your health, and your sanity. Just like we maintain our kitchens, our relationships, and, like, our cars.

Self-care is noble, and self-care is necessary.

And with self-care, as with everything, I’m a fervent advocate of “a stitch in time saves nine” and do less, more often. Hence why today I’m sharing five delicious daily rituals instead of all-day-self-care-day-that-I-do-once-every-two-months ritual.

So, now that that’s been said, let’s get into the nitty-gritty here… aka, how to take care of your glorious bod. I know you’re going to enjoy these five rituals – they’re easy, fun, and guaranteed to give you a massive energy boost.

Mama Self Care + Body Care Ritual with Osea Malibu

Mentioned in the video:

A Word About Osea

As you’ll see in the video, Osea and I go waaaay back — to around 17 years ago when I lived and frolicked in Los Angeles. (Don’t recommend LA, mind you, but I certainly do recommend this clean skincare line!) I fell in love with their mud cleanser, pure vegan ingredients, and the fact that they used – and still use! – eco-luxurious glass jars. Of course, I also love that they’re family run, and made with love in the U.S.A. Honestly, I couldn’t recommend them more. Just wait until you see the unctuousness of their Undaria Body Butter – squeeeeeee! I absolutely guarantee you will fall in love like I have.

And since smells don’t translate over wifi, let me just tell you… it smells like whipped citrus cream with a hint of sugar sauce. (Click to experience, and make sure to use my code VEGGIE_UABB for 10% off.)

Whether you choose to indulge in my rituals or not, promise me one thing… that you’ll take a little time for yourself today. Just a tad. Just a smidgen.

You deserve it, dear one.

Why Motherhood Burnout Has Nothing to Do With Strength (And the Defaults That Actually Help)

12 August 2026

Arnold treated our family kayak trip like interval training. Edgar bragged about it all day. Ernest tried to capsize us. And somehow, that afternoon, I felt completely calm. Here's why.

I carried an owl vase across an ocean. It never held a single flower. This week's video is about what actually earns its place — across three boys, four years, and one very ruthless edit.
