Welcome to another Magnifique Yoga Break! Each month we share a short video sequence lead by one of our favourite yoga teachers here in Paris. These videos are designed to give you a quick break during your day, to gently move your body and reconnect to the breath.

Yoga Teacher of the Month: Ben Beirs

This month’s practice is lead by Ben Beirs. Ben is a talented and fun-loving teacher from the USA. He teaches vinyasa and jivamukti at Caelo Yoga, Big Apple and Paris Yoga Shala, among others.

Ben’s been practising yoga and meditation since he was a teenager. While working at the Omega Institute, he made a friend and mentor in Lama Surya Das, an American meditation master, and went on to attend several silent meditation retreats with him. When Ben moved to Paris he hit pause on his yoga practice, but quickly realised that yoga had become an integral part of his wellbeing. So, in July 2014, he completed a 200-hour vinyasa teacher training with the Asheville Yoga Center. He then went on to do a 300-hour jivamukti training at the Omega Institute.

Ann and I started practising with Ben a few months ago, and we love his soulfulness and intuitive teaching style. He’s also an accomplished musician, and sings and plays to his lucky students during savasana.

You can follow Ben on his Instagram page, and listen to his beautiful classical guitar playing on his website.

Ben's Transformational Tune Up for Mind and Body

Ben calls this class a ‘transformational tune-up’. It’s a quick and easy practice to do at any time of day. So tune in whenever you need a little soul recharge. This class will help you connect with the breath and with mother earth, leaving you calm, stretched and stable.

Here’s what Ben has to say about the practice:

It was my hope to create a simple and accessible practice to help refresh and re-awaken our hearts and minds, even if we are at the beginning, middle, or end of a busy, stressful day. This can be done any time you feel like you need a pick-me-up. Maybe, instead of grabbing for that energy drink or cup of coffee, this short sequence can help to energize and center you. May it be of benefit!

Sending much peace and love your way straight from beautiful Caelo Yoga,

P.S. Have you practised with our first Magnifique yogi, Cole Zaccaria yet? If not, check out her sequences for period pains and arm strength.

That was wonderful, Ben. I practiced the sequence from my bed in rehab after having bilateral knee replacement surgery. I normally practice Hatha at the Integral Yoga Institute in San Francisco.
I enjoyed your combination of poses and breathing.
You are easy to follow and it was a good overall work out for me even tho I had to make accommodations, here and there! ?
Thanks for this soothing and relaxing sequence, Ben! p.s. I am Ann’s aunt!

Hi Liz, so glad you enjoyed the practice! Very brave of you to attempt it after surgery – that’s inspiring! I will pass your words on to Ben. Thanks for your support! Chloe xxx

I carried an owl vase across an ocean. It never held a single flower. This week's video is about what actually earns its place — across three boys, four years, and one very ruthless edit.
