I’m always in awe of those domestic unicorns who have gorgeously organized pantries. Perfectly matching jars and practical systems… and no ugly packaging or random half-eaten packs of quinoa.
Having one of these holy-grail pantries is a dream and a goal that I’m working toward, but *sigh* as I’m not a systems expert, it’s uhhh taking me some time to get there. (Well, and we lack kitchen storage like nobody’s business.)
One day, friends, one day.
That being said, I am becoming a whiz at feeding my family, even in my imperfect kitchen. I can usually whip up a meal in about 15 or 20 minutes with massive flavor to boot. (Now, flavor is key chez nous because I’m an unabashed foodie, and my husband is a Caribbean-y South American with Indian decent – meaning, it is impossible to add “too much” spice and flavor.)
I attribute this to motivation, practice and, above all, pantry staples.
There are certainly a few key pantry staples that are incredibly helpful to have on hand, and instrumental in creating scrumptious dishes on the fly… even if you are two days past when you should have gone to the store. (It happens to the best of us.)
Also, if you’re new to the veggie-forward game (or just looking for how to optimize your already plantiful cooking), today’s video is going to get you all set to create quick, flavorful, and delicious meals.
No deprivation here, folks.
(On that note, if you’re seeking to veggify, here’s one of my favorite posts/videos on How to Go More Vegan-ish.)
So let’s jump into today’s video where I share all the staples that set me up for success – and here’s hoping they’ll do the same for you!
Hope these pantry go-tos prove to be of use to you! Any that I forgot, or that you can’t live without? Let me know in the comments below. I’m always on the hunt for delicious flavor-boosters!
Now… if you’re one of those unicorns with the perfectly organized pantries, would you please share your secrets?! I’m begging you…

Potatoes! They can be baked, boiled, mashed, and scalloped, etc., and can be topped with or combined with so many ingredients. One can build s meal around the lowly but delicious and nutritious potato.
This is so so true! I’m a huge fan of potatoes. I just need to find a better system to store them because they’re supposed to be out of the light (so in a cupboard) which means I often forget about them! I started writing reminders on a white board, “Eat the potatoes!” 🙂
Thanks for the good ideas to help us eat more healthfully!
